Highly soluble, easily soluble granular ferrous sulfate of agricultural and feed grade is an important chemical product widely used in agriculture and feed industries. Below is a detailed introduction:

Properties and Characteristics

·Chemical Properties: The chemical formula is FeO₄S. Common forms include Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate (FeSO₄・7H₂O) and ferrous sulfate monohydrate (FeSO₄・H₂O). Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is a blue-green monoclinic crystal or granule, while ferrous sulfate monohydrate is a grayish-white powder. It is readily soluble in water; a 10% aqueous solution is acidic to litmus (pH approximately 3.7), exhibiting reducing properties and easily oxidized to brownish-yellow basic ferrous sulfate in humid air.

·High Solubility: At 25℃, ferrous sulfate monohydrate can dissolve at a rate of 1g/1.5ml of water. Its solubility is even higher in boiling water, reaching 1g/0.5ml of water. This high solubility allows it to dissolve rapidly in water, facilitating absorption by plants or digestion by animals.

• Granular Characteristics: Granular ferrous sulfate is easy to store and apply, reduces dust, protects the environment, and its granular form prevents clumping during transportation, maintaining good flowability.

Production Process

• Sulfuric Acid Method: Sulfuric acid and mother liquor are mixed and heated to approximately 80°C. Waste iron filings are added to react, generating a slightly acidic ferrous sulfate solution. After clarification, impurity removal, cooling crystallization, and centrifugation dehydration, ferrous sulfate is obtained.

• Titanium Dioxide By-product Method: Ferrous sulfate, a by-product generated during the decomposition of ilmenite into titanium dioxide using sulfuric acid, is used as raw material. Through pretreatment, resolution, and airflow drying processes, free acid and other impurities are removed to obtain feed-grade ferrous sulfate monohydrate.

Usage and Precautions

• Agricultural Use: It can be used for foliar spraying, generally 10 grams diluted in 4-5 catties of water, 1-2 times per month during the normal growing season, and once every 10-15 days during the disease prevention period, for 2-3 consecutive times; it can also be used for watering potted soil, 10 grams diluted in 7-9 catties of water, approximately once every 20 days.

• Feed Additives: The dosage varies depending on the animal species. For example, piglets should take 350g/ton, growing-finishing pigs 150-200g/ton, breeding pigs 250-300g/ton, chickens 200-400g/ton, cattle 300-400g/ton, sheep 200-300g/ton, and fish 500-700g/ton.

• Precautions: Ferrous sulfate should be stored in a dry, cool place, avoiding moisture and oxidation. When adding it to feed, the dosage should be rationally controlled according to the different growth stages and needs of the animals to avoid overuse.
