What Factors Affect the Price of Ferrous Sulfate Powder?
2025-11-11 10:11:57

As a basic raw material in water treatment, agricultural planting, and pharmaceutical manufacturing, the price fluctuations of Ferrous sulfate powder attract widespread attention from upstream and downstream industries. So what specific factors influence its price?

  1. Raw Material Costs

The production cost of ferrous sulfate is almost directly linked to the price of upstream raw materials, which forms the basis of its market price. The production of ferrous sulfate powder mainly relies on raw materials such as iron ore and sulfuric acid. Ferrous sulfate, a byproduct of titanium dioxide production, accounts for 60% of the market circulation.

  2. Supply and Demand Structure

Short-term imbalances in supply and demand are the key driver of recent price fluctuations. During the spring planting and fertilizer preparation season in the agricultural sector, the demand for ferrous sulfate as a soil conditioner and micronutrient fertilizer is concentrated. Meanwhile, with stricter environmental policies, the demand for ferrous sulfate for phosphorus removal and heavy metal removal in the wastewater treatment industry continues to expand.

  3. Policy Regulation and Market Competition

Adjustments in environmental and industrial policies are profoundly affecting the supply structure of the ferrous sulfate market. Stricter environmental policies force manufacturers to invest in upgrading wastewater treatment and exhaust gas recovery equipment, costs which are ultimately reflected in product prices. Simultaneously, stricter water pollution control policies drive upgrades to wastewater treatment facilities, providing rigid support from the demand side and creating a two-way driving force of "production restrictions increasing costs + increased demand boosting sales."

  4. Product Grading and Distribution

The prices of ferrous sulfate powder vary significantly depending on the grade. Based on purity, ordinary grade products are priced at 15-25 yuan per bag, while analytical grade high-purity products can reach 30-50 yuan per bag. Packaging also affects the final selling price; bagged products are 10%-20% cheaper than bottled or drummed products. Although pharmaceutical-grade ferrous sulfate accounts for a small proportion, its high purity requirements and strict production standards result in relatively stable prices and less susceptibility to market fluctuations. Industrial-grade products, however, are more sensitive to supply and demand changes due to their wide range of applications.
